Since, 1900 the Original Central Hudson Gas & Electric–a consolidated conglomerate brought together by CenHud (CH) founders Thaddeus Beal, his father William R. Beal and John Wilkie–has provided electric and natural gas services to the New York region of New England.

This consolidation brought together the combined expertise and technology of over 80 regional gas and electric providers. In the year 2000, CH Energy Group, Inc. was formed as the holding company for Central Hudson Gas & Electric and a group of other smaller subsidiaries then known as the CH Enterprises Corporation. These subsidiaries continue to provide natural gas, fuel oil, propane, electricity, petroleum products and a host of other energy services to both residential and business customers in the New York.
